Change your DP to the Tricolor, PM Modi urges as he launches the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.

Prime Minister Modi had organized a program to interact with security guards or security personnel, commonly known as "chowkidars" in Hindi. During the program he engaged in conversations with several security guards, acknowledging and appreciating their work. This initiative was aimed at recognizing and honoring the contributions of security personnel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also organized a program to interact with security guards or security personnel commonly referred to as chowkidars. During this program he engaged in conversations with several security guards showing his respect for their work. The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was launched by PM Modi on Independence Day, where he appealed to people to change their social media display pictures to include the Indian flag to support the campaign. This gesture was aimed at strengthening the campaign Many BJP leaders, workers and supporters changed their DPs to the Indian flag in response to Modi's appeal.

It's worth noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously made similar appeals on social media, asking people to change their names or DPs to support various campaigns and these appeals have been quite effective.

Before the previous Lok Sabha elections Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Main Bhi Chowkidar' (I am also a watchman) campaign on social media. In this campaign he wrote 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' on his own social media accounts and encouraged his supporters to do the same. Following his appeal millions of people added Main Bhi Chowkidar to their social media account names. Modi also organized a program to interact with security guards or watchmen during which he engaged with several of them acknowledging and honoring their work. This effort was quite successful and it helped cultivate a significant support base for him.

However, later on the Prime Minister changed his profile name back to Narendra Modi even though thousands of social media accounts still retain the Chowkidar identifier. Many of these accounts remain active and continue to post tweets consistently. Most of these social media accounts express support for the decisions of the BJP government.

Prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections opposition leader Rahul Gandhi leveled allegations of corruption against the BJP government. He mentioned the improper allocation of financial assistance to certain industrialists by the government. In order to criticize the central government Rahul Gandhi launched a campaign on social media with the slogan Chowkidar Chor Hai which gained popularity among his supporters. His followers effectively trended this campaign on social media. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded by portraying Rahul Gandhi campaign as an insult to laborers and security guards from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

In response, on March 14, 2019 Narendra Modi initiated the Main Bhi Chowkidar which gained significant traction. BJP party members as well as social media influencers added 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' along with their names or user IDs in English or Hindi to show their support. Many social media accounts continue to advocate for Modi to become the Prime Minister in 2024.

BJP leader Anand Trivedi still uses the term Chowkidar  in his social media account. When asked why he continues to do so Anand Trivedi told Amar Ujala that Prime Minister Narendra Modi appeal was aimed at empowering the weakest sections of society. It was a gesture of respect for his work and dedication. That's why he still has the term 'Chowkidar' attached to his name. Whenever he sees the word Chowkidar alongside his name he feels the responsibility that the Prime Minister has entrusted to his workers. It is this responsibility that drives him to continue assisting people in his area to ensure the benefits of the central government's schemes reach the people, and to engage in service work.
