Nitin Chandrakant Desai, the talented art director, will be laid to rest in a final farewell ceremony at the N D Studio where his lifeless body was found.



At the age of 57 renowned art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai passed suddenly. The formal cause of death has not yet been revealed and it now looks that the police are looking into his demise. Although early reports seem to point to a potential suicide we should wait for more details from the authorities.


On the morning of August 2 his lifeless body was found at his N D Studio in Karjat. Sets for Slumdog Millionaire and Kaun Banega Crorepati were also constructed by the four time National Award winner for art direction. He worked on some of the most well known Bollywood films including Lagaan, Jodha Akbar, Munnabhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munna Bhai.


Maharashtra MLA Mahesh Baldi has confirmed Desai death. According to ANI he claimed that the only possible explanation for his suicide was that he was experiencing financial difficulty.

The authorities were informed about this by a worker on the set and upon reaching the studio they discovered his lifeless body. As per the updated information it is reported that the late art director Nitin Desai had recently contacted the Maharashtra State Co operative Bank to seek a loan. The Chairman of the bank VV Anaskar stated that Nitin Desai approached the bank for the loan.


However, the exact amount of the loan that Nitin Desai requested has not been disclosed in the statement made by VV Anaskar. It is mentioned that Nitin Desai company was facing difficulty in repaying a loan of Rs. 252 crores to creditors and the National Company Law Tribunal had initiated insolvency proceedings against the company.
